Would be interesting to have nooner interview Walburg and get their take on it. Pretty clear what the league’s stance was But where there’s smoke there’s fire and seems like there’s a lot more to the story than the league wants to get into.

Here's what this comes down to. Success breeds contempt, and the Eagles have played the role of villain for a long time. You might say they relished the role of it. They also could be guilty of wanting to hold on for a little too long....
Way back when the Eagles somehow made a few fantastic recruits that set the stage for many many years. About 15 years ago they were able to line up work and move some huge pieces of the team in to the community. First and foremost was a Goaltender. And then a decade long captain arguably the best player in the league for a long time. Mix in 12 or so more locals and a couple imports. This set the stage for a decade plus of pretty decent success.
Let's all keep on mind that you can make an argument that the Eagles have 3 Sask Alta titles in 5 seasons, with one full cancelled season. That's going to put a huge target on your back.
It think the truth lies between the fact that the eagles were being a bit too flamboyant, and they have multiple teams that couldn't wait to give a huge F you, without real concrete proof, and turning a blind eye to others.
I think we could all agree, that the initial meeting went completely off the rails and the eagles reps were caught off guard. The wheels for this punting were set in motion days if not weeks before. Then the gaslighting began, with a couple teams having a toll free number to the nooner.
How could 2 or 3 volunteer senior hockey people control this? To my knowledge the only official statement the eagles made was the apology for how the meeting went. The petition and anything else that was thrown out there was from pissed off fans or community members.
As entertaining as it all is, I can see how this is going to hurt walburgs rink, and I'm sure there are a lot of hurt and disappointed people.
One thing is for sure, if the goal was to decimate the eagles to the point where they won't be competitive in the future or even exist, they were successful.
There definitely is a huge cloud over this league. You let the inmates start infiltrating the asylum and something was bound to explode.

Walburg will join SaskWest for 24-25 and never look back.

Walburg will join SaskWest for 24-25 and never look back. It would be great, the real problem is distance. I'm not sure they would get in based on location. I guess time will tell. I hope the team doesn't fold. We shall see...

One other thing that shouldn't be ignored is the fact that the Eagles were often accused of playing possum whether intentional or not. Especially in the last few years including a couple championships.
For some reason, I would assume due to when they put in ice at various rinks. Walburg and some other teams play a heavily back loaded schedule. Wainwright and others played a heavily front loaded schedule.
Often times, the Eagles would play the front half of the season with a short bench, younger roster, backup goalie ect.
Then January comes.... They knock off a few wins, enter playoffs as a 4 or 5 seed and all of a sudden start rolling through series with a full roster and all guns a blazing. (Three game rule)
Even though Walburg tecnically doing anything wrong, it really pissed alot of people off.

make sure the guys you’re paying aren’t walking around telling everyone in the world that you are paying them $700 a game.

Which Walburg player or board member wrote this? “We could all agree the initial meeting went off the rails” uhh no we can’t agree because we weren’t in the meeting, hmm. Half the crap in this forum you can tell is directly from someone associated with the team, even if they continue to deny it and act like “the team” has said nothing but an apology statement. Constant bullshit and lies coming out of the mouths of every person involved in that corrupt organization. Talk about gas lighting, all they have done since being punted is whine, complain and try to place the blame every other team. Take ownership for your mistakes and letting your community down. Yea you bet, tell yourself it was just the success that got you guys kicked out or maybe every team is done with the same old bullshit over the years. 12 locals?? I hope you mean 15 years ago. I don’t think you can count locals that play less than 30 seconds a game or the ones that sit in the stands watching as the team constantly brings in talent from outside the town. When is the last time St Walburg has had a hometown guy be anything more than a 3rd or 4th liner? For those keeping score at home the answer is never. And the woe is me for the arena and community. If I was on the St Walburg Arena Board I would fully expect the eagles to pay their ice fees for the year. If the team has 25-30K to throw around to two players who probably could give 2 shits about your town then you can support your arena by paying your bills when you got yourselves in this situation!

This right here..... Is the jealous rage that got this going. Hillmond or Lasburn? And by the way. Not on the team or board in any way. I actually almost live closer to Meadow to Walburg.

Neither actually. Just someone who has been around senior hockey in the area for a long time. What happened with the other leagues St Walburg was in before the SaskAlta. Hasn’t St Walburg only been in the Saskalta for 5 seasons? Did those teams in the other leagues have a hidden agenda against Walburg too?

Any credibility or truth to the rumoured messages showing Walburg being called all kinds of shit by the league before the second appeal happened? I’ve been waiting to see but heard there are receipts of the president using some pretty non-sportsman like language

Another burner account, another deflection of the blame^ I’m non partisan. This was overheard in St. Walburg though, hence the ask if there is any credibility. Anyone else other than someone watching this on behalf of the league?

I've never heard anything of that account, but honestly there is so much shit slinging from every side at this point you will never now the actual truth. The good news is that in a couple weeks nobody will give a flying F about any of this.

One other note regarding how it would hurt the rink. I did her that guys from the team are continuing to skate, so I'm sure they are paying their ice fees. I'm not sure how their rink is run, is the the kitchen and lounge tendered out or ran by volunteers?? I would assume that senior games would be a big portion of traffic in the winter? I know they have often booked senior games backing a minor hockey tournaments or games. Just something to keep in mind, as I wasn't just referring to ice fees.
