Gosh that sounds a lot like Hillmond plus all the Alberta teams.
A very divided league.

You should probably learn the league rules. Other teams have restrictions about where they can draw from, it isn't a free for all. Are there a couple other suspect teams? For sure, but Walburg pushed the limits every year and this year they went too far. An Import by Hockey Alberta definition is someone from out of province or out of country. The SaskAlta by Hockey Alberta standards is a AA Senior League. There’s no reference to population constraints or exceptions in the Hockey Alberta Regulations for Senior Hockey. You must know the answer to this: How many players with a designated Lloydminster centre would a team like Hillmond or Dewberry be limited to, versus a team like Vermillion or Lashburn? I personally don’t know. No guidlines in the constitution either.

Is it true the players are suspended from saskalta for the year? If so, has anyone wondered why?

I think so no one would load up.
Solid team mates, (line mates) have a habit of staying together, and last year when Onion Lake was evicted, a whole starting line decided to go to Hillmond.
Other teams in the league believed that was unfair.

Wondered if it was so they couldn’t turn around and see who’s getting paid on other teams after getting punted haha

Only Meadow and Wain have restrictions, and those were placed on them when they joined the league. All of the other teams can draw whoever they want from wherever they want, as long as they ain't paying.

Has to be a limit. 3? 5? (The SHA Import standard)
30,000 people in Lloyd not limiting the draw would be absurd.

No, no centres, no population, nothing. Wainwright and meadow have restrictions imposed by the league but other than that, anyone can play anywhere.

Saskatchewan B Hockey is a great example, competitive, quick, the Yorkton Terrier Trophy rich in tradition, unbelievably full Rinks every March. Amalgamated centre’s population Limit 5,000. Three Imports, Two Non Imports. Rules are Black and White.
I think that explains why this League seems so dysfunctional. Proximity to Lloydminster is a huge factor.

How's the league dysfunctional? It's been operating for like 100 years and doing alright.

Towns shrink, cities grow. It’s not like it was 100 years ago.

Worked great back in the day when the rule was a 30 mile radius of KFC downtown, but it’s different now. Provincials matter, rules that fit with provincials matter and in fact are the bigger issue.
Good on Wainwright for winning Provincial last year, #Represent!! but was that really the same team?
On the Sasky side, amalgamated Centres less than 3500 for Provy C/D and only three additions to the regular season roster.. 120 km radius , 3 imports, 2 non imports… doesn’t matter how close your town is to a city…
Yes the league is old, but the provincial guidelines (AB vs SK) clash so badly there is really no common ground.. Provincial Rules have changed immensely over the years but the league itself has not..
So, survive another 100 years? Draw that 30 Mile radius from KFC again, and automatically disqualify its teams from provincial play I guess.
Certain that’s the only model that works.

They don’t post the team’s restrictions though it’s based on who remembers what and who’s in charge of the league that year apparently lol

Walburg had no restrictions (except not paying people) which is why they had guys with no connection to the town driving out from Edmonton. Only teams with restrictions are meadow and Wainwright. Locals only with some specific exemptions.
