Also I guess there’s a new rule about poaching imports from teams within the league. Say team A offers team B’s import more money to leave and play with them. Unless team A gives their ok, that player can’t be registered with team B and would have to not play in the LLHL for a year. And it sounds like it wouldn’t matter if that player didn’t even play with team A that year either.

An import must play 3 consecutive years with a team before they can jump ship to another team. If they do they must sit out a year. Prime example Calladine been on a new team every year for the last 5 years

My apologies Einstein, I was under the impression imports must play their term to be considered a non import. Then could leave. I understand it’s to stop teams from poaching players and players chasing more money

Player A must be considered a non import before they can leave without missing a year or needing teams permission

Sounds like Watrous dropped Haines. No way they were dropping Dmyterko…. Good luck finding a good young goalie this close to the season. While I think Dmyterko absolutely should be considered an elite as he had close to 40 Jr A games over 3 seasons as a goaltender but i'm not so sure Haines is the guy i'd be cutting. Not many D-men like him out there.

To me it sounds like a bunch of over thinking. If a guy wants to leave to another team for any reason, why can’t he? Treat your players right and give them a reason to stay. This is senior hockey not pro or junior. The once superior long lake hockey league is starting to become a joke. They almost seem like the old school guy that can’t fathom it’s 2023. Times are a changing. The Long Lake has money, and that’s it.

Haines is a elite dman for sure will be interesting to see where he ends up!

All the teams in the LLHL treat their guys well... but when you have guys that are jumping from team to team for more money every year it gets old.... If they know that they won't be able to play for another team they maybe will stop fishing. And this is as much about the teams to! every summer teams within the league are calling other teams imports, so this stops that as well. its a good rule, and one in theory that you shouldn't need but here we are...

Ya, that could stop guys from switching team to team, or they could go to a different league and the long lake league will just lose quality. Just seems silly to me. There is no doubt that the money players are asking for is astronomical. This is often the reason why teams can't afford to keep a player more than one year. Guys can pay their mortgages in the winter by playing senior hockey.
