Heard on the Monday Nooner that the league is saying Adam Dmyterko is an elite. Anyone know what’s going on there?

he was listed as a non-elite last year, and no one had any issues? sounds like his only games down south were during the covid year.

What's the official LLHL ruling for 'elite' players? This should be pretty black & white. He's got 38GP of Jr A and 3GP of NCAA Div3. As the 'elite' rule is written, is he an 'elite' or not? Not black and white, and should be addressed. Determining factor is ncaa III considered jr A or higher. I wouldn't consider it higher than jr A so I'd say he should be non elite, but who knows. |

Believe Foam Lake had a player that was technically a non-elite get ruled as an elite as well.

Div 3 is good hockey. Dylan Smith played Div 3 and wasn’t a point per game player. He was over a point per game player in Jr A.

Rule is x (used to be 20 and I think it is now 80ish) amount of games in junior A and he can be considered non elite. 1 game in the whl and he is elite. I would assume any game in collage hockey would classify him as elite.

As the rule is written Adam is unarguably a non elite. That is why he was registered as a non elite last year and the league had no problem with it. For the league to rule any other way will require a rule revision to specify what level of college affects non elite status. I personally think the chances of this happening again are very low. Most guys who get play div 3 will have well over 80 games of junior A played. This really only happened because Covid shortened a guys Junior A career. It’s kind of embarrassing for whoever is raising a stink over this, if the rumor mill doesn’t have Watrous lacing a decent team this year are we even talking about this? Sure didn’t seem to be a problem last year when Watrous sucked.

Asked the guy I know from Watrous about this. This is what he sent back.
“Exact wording of rule change”.
Each team will be allowed up to 4 non-elite imports, defined as not playing more than 80 “junior A” games
Watrous is fine, as Dmyterko hasn’t played 80 games of junior A

If that’s the rule then I would say Watrous is good to go. Think the league should probably revisit that rule in the future.
