Who said they couldn’t compete? There were repeated comments along the lines of Wadena waiting and seeing what it was like playing in a real league, etc etc etc. Ya they have been a surprise thats for sure. There was no doubting their forwards or d, but I never thought they would get this far with their local goalie. They play very structured defense and he makes the saves he needs to. Good on him. |

I'm not surprised. It's pretty hard to compare the teams and leagues with all the constitutional differences. When you try compare the Wheatland to the Long Lake your not comparing apples to apples...
My prediction was and still is that Wadena will win the series and take the title.

Wadena did go 9-6-2 in reg season lets not forget. Good team in a good league. Wadena heating up when it counts wynyard dying off.

got to see Wadena 3 times this year.. 2 of the 3 were wins, they are a well rounded team that plays with structure, most importantly they take care of their own end. They won't lose 3 to Wynyard, but i think Davidson's defence and goaltending is just as good as Wadena, as are their forwards.

They won't lose 3 to Wynyard, but i think Davidson's defence and goaltending is just as good as Wadena, as are their forwards. Most rec teams goalies are as good as Wadenas. Wadenas D is in the top 5 d cores of senior hockey. |

Nor sure why ppl would not think they would compete....half their team previously played in the LLHL at some point before the team switched leagues.

It’s because people devalue the Wheatland. But last year it had 3 pretty good teams in Wadena, Craik and Kinistino.
To be fair it was mainly one team with all the Wadena negative chatter.

I wondered about their older imports getting banged up but seemed to have avoided it so far. |

I know that Hobbins and Dyck both missed significant time with an injury and did others. They are a complete team who plays hard up and down the line up. Win or lose they are a top team . |
