In 2011-12 Davidson played 28 league games 5 rounds of provincials Churchbridge Brendenbury Eston Delisle Kyle and 3 rounds of league playoffs . Played 47 games and had guys playing AAA with Lloyd and one played with Rosetown . Were those provincial rounds a best of 3? Or 2-game total point?

Pretty sure it was 2 game total goals up until the semi final and final which were then best of 3.

It’s only in the last roughly 5 years where league schedules have been greatly reduced to 12-14 games seasons. Back in 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, etc. all leagues played at least 20 game seasons. Usually about 24-28 games per season. Then add playoffs and provincials and 40 games per year was very common.
It’s only recently where this has changed. Maybe its teams don’t want to pay out big $$$ for more regular season games? But longer seasons and more hockey being played in February and March has been going on for a long long time. Why were senior players able to do that forever but they can’t do it now?

That is true and a very very good point. However it has reverted too far the other way.
If people are concerned about playing too much hockey in February and March then maybe don’t play senior and just play rec. Yes it’s a grind, but if you want a championship it’s what has to be done.

I also think it would be better for the rinks with more rounds. If you can have more small town teams it's better for everyone and maybe even out the competition. You're still going to have them elite teams like kyle for example but you might also have the odd upset you never know.

I think they would have almost more luck getting more team to enter provincials by submitting rosters to sha. On that roster you put the highest level of hockey that players had played. You’d compare rosters to match up with other teams around the province putting the elites against the elites and the good against the good. And so on. And you trust McClintock to do that??

I assume that 28 games includes the playoffs. I think there's way to much concern over the amount of teams playing provincials or the amount of rounds played to win it, and why does it matter to everyone. Are you aware how taxing it is on the Players that are playing both league playoffs and provincials at the same time? Best of 5 league game plus best of 3 provincials. It could take as much as 15 to 20 games to be played in a month. When is it ever enough. Do you think senior hockey players are wishing they could play even more hockey come March and spend even more time on the road and away from their family? And do you think many teams are wishing they could spend even more money to win provincials? Remember plenty of years where the LLHL schedule was 24-26 games. Games usually started beginning of November. Watrous would have a warm up tournament right at end of October and next weekend senior was rolling. Drake usually had a warm up rec tournament which was made up of 90% senior hockey players to. Talking to the guy that used to drive the bus for watrous and one year they played 15 games in 30 days, couple of make up league games at the end of January then playoffs and provincials... back then you had a car load coming from the city and the rest lived in town, now its the opposite, you have a car load coming from town and a van load or more coming from saskatoon. and.. back then 150$ was the most the top player in the league was making.. now thats a junior b player that wasn't even a PPG in the PJ.

Pretty sure Outlook got covid last year and had to play 14 games in 27 days or something silly as they played eston and Kyle in league and watrous and Wadena in provincials . Could very well be wrong but I know it was close to this as they cancelled their game against eston and didn’t replay for a week

Anyone care to post some rosters for senior provincials this year? 9 teams from SVHL entered provincials. With the exception of Loreburn, who went A(and added some players), I’d say the other 8 have very close to their league roster. Just go on SVHL website and take a look.
