Interested to see how the C/D brackets shake out. Seems that there are lots of teams in the 2500-3500 pop. range so its not a forgone conclusion that a team will be in the "C" bracket vs "D". Both will be very tough.

Both will be very tough. All the strong C teams are at the top of the C population bracket - Davidson, Redvers, Dinsmore and word is Kenaston is requesting C division. D will still be good with Craik, Macklin, Kyle, and Edam

Would have to be some other additions to those two teams to compete in A. Interested to see that roster.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the winner of “A” lose in the league final, to a team that got completely dusted by Craik, who eventually lost in the “D” final? Seems like there’s a lot of parity amongst the top tier teams in this province. I also agree that you should never cut your 3rd or 4th line locals just to appease some faceless characters on a web

just heard that Smith, Johnson from watrous along with the import goalie are headed to redvers for provs... holy is that a drive from saskatoon! money must have been damn good for that drive to take place.

Looks like Johnson played with a few of those guys in junior. So it could be true. But that seems like a crazy drive to play in the South. I assume they would’ve joined a team in the llhl.

Only 37 teams total entered senior provincials this year. Regardless of what that change is, SHA needs to change something. To get more teams entering. Provincials are dying. Sad.

Only 37 teams total entered senior provincials this year. Regardless of what that change is, SHA needs to change something. To get more teams entering. Provincials are dying. Sad. Current SHA rules regarding senior provincials allows more teams to enter given the import + exception rule and population requirements. Entering provincials is simply not a priority for 40-50 teams. If there was more of an appetite to enter provincials...you'd see more teams. Communities are happy just to have some senior hockey helping the rinks stay open. In looking at the list of 37, there's a common theme...the vast majority year after year enter provincials, they are consistent. I don't doubt a few teams didn't enter due to competitive reasons (ie: usually consistent Watrous and Lanigan noticeably absent) however most other teams not entering is common as they've never entered or only do it the odd year. Provincial senior hockey is not dying...to the 40-50 teams not entering, provincials is just a luxury. It's not that prestigious and there's little fit for them. To the 40 or so who consistently enter...they tend to attract the better players with money, former teammates/contacts in elite level hockey, view provincials as a tradition to enter and the likely promise/guarantee of entering provincials. I guess I don't see a compelling reason to change the current rules to allow more teams to enter when the rules are such that more are able to enter without dropping players or have the ability to combine populations to still fit B, C or D. Agree or disagree, this creates good conversation and more talk about senior hockey is this province which is a huge positive!

When there’s 8 team draws and your considered a provincial champion for being the best out of 8 doesn’t seem nearly as impressive as when we used to have 32 team draws with 20-32 teams in each category and you were the best out of 20+ teams. I think trim the divisions down to 2 or 3 if we’re only seeing less than 40 teams enter is the way to go.

If they can’t do anything to get more teams to enter make it two or three divisions only.
