I gotta say I am surprised how much hounding on the refs there has been. The high stick should have been called against Drake for sure. Other than that, Meadow Lake is who could have had more calls against them if the refs were calling a tighter game. To me, discipline cost Meadow Lake. It was a 4-3 game late in the 3rd when Fiddler took an unsportsmanlike for hammering the puck into the net way after the whistle. Drake scored on that PP to go up 2 with a few minutes left. It’s the fact that all the calls only went one way.. I’ve played high level and officiated minor hockey.. I can’t remember playing, officiating or watching a “tight” game when the penalties are 8-0 in a championship final… Fiddler should have received a 10 minute misconduct. It shouldn’t have costed the team another power play late in the game. The last 10 minutes used to be called prison hockey because unless, you took away a for sure scoring chance, had a play that could injure someone or played with too many men. The whistle was usually put inside the pocket. Let the teams play.

Why didn’t meadow lake pick up McCallum and Campbell for provincials? Arguably some of the best players to Come from the area. And Bridges? Surely must be a goalie of that caliber a decade younger lol

Campbell and McCallum were playing ASHL last I heard so would have been similar to Goodman and Durand being picked up.

Meadow Lake plays in a league where they cannot pay players for competition reasons and with the arena burning down last summer, they were not able to draw 600+ fans a game this year, to be able to anyways. I’m sure the management will go back to the drawing board and come up with a better team to compete next year.

They would have got lucky with the schedule as Warman, Biggar and Drake are nice and close to Saskatoon.

Bridges faced over 40 shots the first 2 games and 35 in the third game. He made some unbelievable saves. Às good as Campbell is, he does turn 40 this year and at that age, I'm not sure he's still a game changer like he used to be. There is something to be said about younger legs. It's unfortunate that in the first 58 minutes of the Sunday game Drake had 6 power plays and meadow only had 1 but both teams could have had another 1/2 dozen minor penalties. The fans were all winners as we were treated to 3 exceptional games to watch with 2 very talented hard working teams.

How many actual penalties did each team get in game 3? Hearing lots of different numbers on this thread.

I heard 8-0 powerplays for Drake before the empty net goal. 3 guys confirmed. 1 would have for-sure seen the game sheet. Could be one of those cases where you say you have 8” but it’s actually only 6” haha

There was also three 10 min misconduct and 2 match penalties.

What were the match penalties for? Good question. You'd have to ask the refs.
