I think the 2 non imports after 3 consecutive years is a good rule. Would even like to see that advanced to after 5 consecutive they are local in standing. This rewards loyal players and promotes teams to build other than buy championships🤷♂️.

If the goal is to get more teams to enter No naturalization of imports. This favours teams close to cities Same import rules as now for BCD but you have to use your league roster in provs. Cap A at 4 to 6 imports and again use league roster for provs

Very rare to find players to stay 3 years or more 20 years old out of junior 4 years or more college or minor pro Europe etc So now mid twenties Marriage kids or career changes and it’s hard to stay with the same team and location But like I said. Drive 20 minutes to lumsden or 2 1/2 hours to a place like foamlake or Wadena etc is a tougher gig By the time guys hit 30 the long drives are a big factor Being close to city is an advantage I disagree with

I think in the interest of keeping Provincials going they should not include JR B players as imports (or allow an extra 5 "jr.b imports?). If they do that I think the existing system can work fine. It’s just really hard to find 15 locals that are capable / have to time to play hockey at a decent level. Our town hasn't had a midget team in 5+ years and we are a town of 2000 people. If SR is going to survive it has to adapt. Also I know with the new sportal page it is easy for SHA to look up where guys played their minor hockey. That and submit a pic of your drivers license for proof of current address that would take out most of the dumb games being played with addresses. Carrying jr b guys like that is a double edged sword. When you start spurning a kid who’s lived in town his entire life for a jr b guy who’s going to put up the exact same stat line at the end of the year, you’re just pissing people off. That and paying jr b players is kind of a joke unless they’re a late bloomer and actually make a difference. Hockey sorts players by quality for a very long time before they get to senior, paying guys who were never exceptional relative to their peers only drives up the price of running a team with little benefit.

Having a competitive team year after year and how you treat the players is the driver in getting non imports.

Yep agreed. You treat players well, and I’ve a competitive team and you’ll be fine.

That’s on the executive I’d say, if you have the locals that can play then don’t fill those jr b spots… but if your a kid that played 3rd line in your local midget program your not good enough to play in this league. That and the fact that young kids coming out of midget think they should be in the top 6 and get pissy about not seeing a bunch of ice. Times have changed.

Maybe it’s just me but I would love to see a way to have any team from any league enter their league roster and play competitive games instead of this whole pickup and drop 18 players just for the majority of teams to have no shot at winning. Let’s find out which leagues are truly better and let the worse teams have entertaining hockey games.

each league should create 1 or 2 teams to go in A "all-star teams if you will"
after that if regular team wants to go prov, goes by population

why not every couple years try and combine leagues and go AAA and go for the hardy cup. What fun that would be.

There used to be a Hardy Cup where the AAA winners of Alberta and BC played for.
