We weren't discussing Drake's LLHL success in the 1990's, try to stay on topic: So those years Drake was a D power along with Conquest in the 90's was a bunch of nothing? Drake in the last 10 seasons won another D title, should that one be removed from the Drake Sportsplex along with the D banners from the 1990's? Besides in the last 20 years as you mentioned, only Lanigan entered A with any sort of regularity. LLHL teams traditionally entered B-D much like the SVHL did and currently do. It's only in the last 10 years that LLHL teams enter A due to import rules. So the standard you SHA A fanboys have tried to set is an A banner is the real one vs the B, C or D banner mean nothing. Wynyard was a team that regularly went A with the same league / prov team and won it in 13. Lately haven’t had as strong as teams so getting pick ups. Was Wynyard in HHL at the time they won?

I was thinking A might be tough but now thinking Kenaston might roll through A. Gonna be a bit tougher battle but no one gonna beat them twice. Only team in A with three first lines. Gonna take an elite goaltender to win the series for the other team. Interesting observation re: Kenaston's forward depth, clearly you know what you're speaking to. I have Wadena and Kenaston meeting in the "North" semi final with Wadena winning in likely a close 3 game 1-2 goal wins for both teams.

Lanigan has beautiful sweaters and pant shells but Calladine needs everyone to know who he is out there apparently. Only guy with a white helmet and refuses to wear shells over his blue and red pants...

Lanigans top line is worse then kenaston third line. With all the pickups it don’t matter. They don’t have the fire power. They didn’t pick up any game changers. Once again relying on Shields to save the day. Dishing out all that money to get shut out by a junior B goalie.

From what i say the Outlook pickups were generating a lot of offense with Calledine. Then once it came to defense Calledine was hanging out at the blueline!! Physical game but yes Kenaston has 3 solid lines will be tough for Lanigan to come back.

Must be hard making it to every senior hockey game in the province to provide your insight but somehow you make it work! hats off!

The entire conversation about A division being so superior is so over done. I've been a senior hockey player in every division and now a fan for over 40 years and YES "A" division holds the most elite players in the province so one would think the best teams are in A. But I've seen a lot of poor teams enter A just for the sake of not dropping any imports or keeping team chemistry, and some years I've seen teams that won B,C, and yes even D division that would have surely beat the A division winner. Seen a lot of stacked teams with great players play awful as a team. Its 100% not a given that A holds the best the "teams", it just has the largest payroll and apparently carries the most bias fans in the province.

Great post that everyone should spend a minute or 2 to read.

Saskhockey7 has plenty of time on the bench to think of things to write on the forum. Once he loses to Lumsden in gm 2 he’ll have even more time.

Great post that everyone should spend a minute or 2 to read. A is not completely superior, but my counterpoint to this would be that the local bases of players are almost completely gone or very rare. Pick a team that won a bunch of titles in C and D in the 90s and there’s an 80% chance that town has no minor hockey anymore. The brackets look like they do and there’s no B because of precisely this. Not saying it’s a good thing, but anyone who’s competitive in senior will now end up in A. A is a complete free for all with imports and B, C, and D are now prohibitive to enter because so few teams can compete in their own leagues without imports and “locals”.
