You can get away with that in WHL. Not in the SVHL. Craik is simply just not as good as they think they are. Heard through the grapevine they are already thinking of returning to the sweetland because the SV will be too tough for them. We’ll see how it plays out for them. |

At the game last night. CW missing both Kemps, Mike Reich, Matt Watkins. Had sluggish feet, no spark, no lungs. Kudos to Butte who had the jump and passion to play. Warriors gave up 3 shorties (2 on a single PP!!! Ugly, not typical). Local player family/community chat is that Craik is VERY happy to be in the SVHL, would be content to run middle of pack if possible. Happy to have way less travel, way better gate attendance, and hopeful to develop competitive team and some old-fashioned local rivalries. Guess we'll find out....

First off I can say as an older player in the league and with a family of my own. I have no interest in playing huge amounts of hockey in a season. A lot of us older home town guys are still playing so we can still ice a competitive team. Sure we love the game, but many of will pack it in if we are required to give more time to playing and even less time with our kids. Remove every 30 plus year old hockey player and this league is going to loose quite a few teams. Also I can’t imagine that any team is worried about giving the imports even more money.
Secondly I know this is a place where we love the trash talk but I doubt seriously that Craik is wishing they stayed in the Wheatland. I expect they will end up in the middle somewhere and I’m pretty sure that so do they.

When half your games are at home but pay imports every game. More league games might not yield more net income
A good playoff run is more important to the bottom line
