Hi hockey fans I totally agree with Hooper. 4-1 final but the game was exciting right down to the wire. 1-1 after one with Kilgore in net. 5 minutes into the second Cougar goalie Audet appeared to pull his groin and left the game. Kulyk came in and played well the rest of the way. 1-1 after two and 2 minutes into the third Haylock on a hard working forecheck from behind the net. Four minutes later, another forecheck goal by Harbor and 3-1 Spitfires with 14 minutes to go. Seconds after the 3-1 goal, Carlyle appeared to score a tip-in deflection which was immediately deemed to be with a high stick. Jesse Gabrielle received a 10 minute misconduct for disagreeing and didn't come back until there was 4 minutes to play. Empty netter made the final 4-1. Both teams played well but Grenfell played a little bit better. They were missing Schneider on the point. Cougars rolled only 4 D but also played well. Cougar third line of Shaw Rose and Turgeon was their best. The other two lines held pointless. Estimated crowd I would say was 800. $3,800.00 pot of gold won by the sister of Kruise Reddick of Kenosee Lake. Will be a big crowd in Carlyle Friday night. Good collection of talent on both teams. Both teams have fairly different strengths. Carlyle plays a pretty heavy game but Grenfell is no stranger to that type of game. Grenfell is strong on the wall and takes care of things in their own end. Most of the goals they give up are off the rush. Their game is largely centred around puck control. Thinking carlyle would like to try to cycle more with their big bodies and activate D more. Grenfell avoids getting pinned down with solid first passes from D though.

3 disallowed goals by the taller, ugly ref last night. 2 for Grenfell and that last high stick on Carlyle. No one is even talking much about that…

Bourhis on the blue line would of helped. Sterling Bear wasn't dressed either. Bourhis helps a bit. Bear is a complete non factor. If grenfell could get Schneider back that would be huge. Carlyle would make it close if their big import line comes to play on Friday.

No Ruopp, Schneider or King I am shocked they won without those 3. Arguably their 3 best players.

It will b a different game Friday in carlyle It will be close just like game 1. Without Carlyles pickups, they’d be dead in the water. If the import line shows up in game 2 though, they can win. Their 3rd line played like their 1st in game 1.
