He’s signed with Loreburn. His wife is expecting and out of Prov so he was expected to be unavailable. I think that changed but hindsight is 20/20.

The bigger impact will be McVeigh being out for Kenaston. One of the better players in the province and a hometown kid.

Let’s face it folks, Kenaston has three solid lines, that would stack up with any senior team.

I had people tell me their defense isn’t strong, but they’re very mobile, and don’t get trapped in their own end long enough to make mistakes. Now if Davidson was younger and had a more tactical forecheck then I’m sure they would have caused more turnovers. No disrespect to the Allans, they are still super fast, but the lines were missing something, maybe Lichtenwald.

Garrett Bembridge- does everything you want and need at both ends of the ice.

Jaimen Yakubowski -He doesn’t quit. Always around the net, and his second period goal that he roofed after his initial shot was stopped shows just how great his hands are.

Connor Gay- Best all around game last night. Very smart positioning, great shot.

Logan McVeigh- too bad he’s hurt, he could add so much fire power if he was healthy.

Kyle Haines- great defenseman, I’d take him on my team any day. Mistake free game.

#74 Kenaston? Workhorse not on the program. Come on Davidson, let’s put a few bucks and make a professional program with correct names and numbers. Promote your sponsors and give them something for their money.

The program wasn’t accurate, so I don’t know Kenaston’s Goalies name, but he doesn’t allow second chances. One and done!

Dean McNabb is great on that first shot, but he didn’t create any one shot whistles. Too many rebounds and second chances and Kenaston shooters didn’t let him get his glove on many pucks. A lot of pad shots and rebounds that make it very hard on Davidsons defense.

Colin MacPherson- #2 - This guy is huge! It’s a long way down for him to control the puck, but you want this guy on your team.

Sam Klassen #4 logged a lot of minutes. Davidson gave up Nine 3-2s and three 3-1s and Sam was trying to stop most of them.

Derek #23 & Tory Allan #27 - I hope the Davidson fans know how lucky they’re to have this kind of local talent.

Eric Gardiner #22 - During the warmups I thought this guy can’t be an import,but once the game started he’s always in the play and involved.

Rhys Dieno #71- He’s not in shape, quite a bit heavier than his Jr days, but he labeled one top corner in the first to get Davidson back into it before the first period ended.

Chris Rugus #88- this guy makes you glad you’re not on the ice playing anymore. What a beast, and he can fire the puck.

If I can bring up a huge difference in the teams, Kenaston really comes back hard and when Derek or Tory Allan fly down the wing and spin back to the blue line, they’re instantly met with Kenaston forward back pressure.

Davidson forwards are playing the old system where the centre comes back deep but the wingers aren’t helping out much below the circles.

All in all, it was a great senior hockey game.

Interesting note, the 50/50 was one by the officiating crew $750 x 4!

ps: the hockey gods may have caught up with Carson Stadnyk. He scored a beauty goal in the first on a tip in. Kenaston doesn’t do the bench fly by which I love, but Carson had to let the fans know how great he is( he actually is a great player), as he did a fan fly by. Last shift of the game, why the hell is he out there when the game is in hand anyway? Gets absolutely pasted in the corner by Rygus and I’m sure by the way he was trying to maneuver his shoulder behind the bench, that it won’t be a 100% until June.

I heard Davidson had their chances to win game 2 just couldn’t tuck-em in. That being said, I don’t think Davidson beats Kenaston on the big ice in game 3. (Had that happened). In my defence though….I had no idea they were dropping their best player for provincials.(Eli Litchenwald) But hey a bet is a bet…… Govofsask you can private message me where you want me to MAIL the cash.
