To be brutally honest the league lost its heart and soul when St Brieux and Lake Lenore folded. Those rivalries were what made the Wheatland great.

I blame the... greasyyy town of Hanley Yea, with their high budget payroll and blatant disregard for getting uniforms they really have ed this league over. It was a top notch league until they showed up. Not sure how any other teams will even compete with this guys, the league better step in or else you will see teams folding under the new pressures that this squad creates. I heard they had 37 imports. |

I heard that moving the team down the road was the cure to covid |

All teams losing money this year even the ones not paying sticks and gas. Feel for the semi pro senior hockey players who might not be able to make their sled payments. On a serious note this will put many arenas in serious financial trouble

To be brutally honest I think this will be the last year for the Wheatland. If one team north of highway 16 joined you'd have a northern league.

Should of done this a few years ago to begin with, would like to see a solid northeast league and bring back some good rivilarys. Wadena could easily join long lake geographically. Hanley and craik also have plenty of options as well. I think a northeast league like the old Pasquia would do really well Wadena could probably stay in with a northeast league. Just depends if they want to win or play in a stronger league. |
