I really think it is good that the wheatland is looking at expanding with multiple teams. I look forward to that and also understand that the “top” teams will always be the top teams and there will always be the rest. I think just the thought of getting that many more senior teams out in small towns is great. They may not be contenders for a year or many years but atleast the attempt and effort is there. I’d rather have a 10 or 12 team league than a 6 or 7 team league because no matter what the number is there is going to be a strong 3 or 4 teams and the remainder will defend for them selves. Good to hear on the guys trying to get teams going! I agree on the adding of teams being a good thing. A league like the wheatland can handle more teams as long as travel is considered. Senior teams bring money into the rink and town and it can only help the provinces hockey scene. Yes the talent may get diluted, but most of these teams aren’t getting the elite imports from the cities anyways

This series is definitely going a different direction. I talked to members of the Rivals third line and was told you’ll see a totally different effort level come Friday.

League should be declared a rec league It’s become a joke. Teams acting like They’re senior teams and scared to enter Provincials somehow the 2 don’t make sense Year after year the same teams guaranteed To make the playoffs being horrible?? The only reason there isn’t good players Is the horrible ones are running the bottom Teams. Only saying the truth for the good Of the league.

It may not be the same level of senior hockey as the Sask valley, long lake etc. but it’s still senior hockey. These are small towns doing what they can to field a team and keep hockey alive in their communities. Finding elite players to play in this league is difficult because most wheatland teams are a long drive from the city and the good players get poached by high payroll teams. As for provincials, teams should absolutely not be obligated to enter provincials. With the current provincial format and the amount of money that teams are shelling out, Wheatland teams simply can’t compete. Porcupine enters every year and they get rewarded by playing Wilkie (a powerhouse every year)in round 1 of C provincials. Jansen came back after a couple years off and had to enter A because of their population and imports. They got matched up against another very strong team in Wadena. If you don’t think these teams are trying to win and be competitive, you are mistaken.

I love watching the top line in Tisdale play each night. The Rivals have a very good first line as well. Fiske and Vermeulen were excellent on the back end this year and there are a couple of other guys who would make a lot of teams around the province happy. The talent pool is uneven for sure. But it’s good to see communities come together and join in watching some decent hockey.

Ignore the troll guys. League was pretty decent for talent this year. This isn’t the llhl, Qvhhl, ,svhl as a couple have stated. I’d says the state of the league is better then it’s ever been and it will only get better. Atleast I can go to a game and watch some good local talent and actually know who they are rather then a team filled with 95 percent imports/junior b players. I give it 5 years or so and these hot shot leagues will be on the brink of folding. It’s not sustainable

It was who could pay the most and then poof, the league folded as no teams could sustain themselves.

Tisdale has a solid dman with Gerwing that was entertaining. Personally i enjoyed Hamelin …. one of the top dmen in the league but both the men I listed would make many teams happy.

Tisdale puts up 4 unanswered goals on Brew in the first period. Reuther and Janke both pot a pair. Shots 14-11 Tisdale.

5-2 Tisdale after 2. Reuther scored his third to make it 5-0 but Brew had good pushback with Schaab and Freed getting on the board. Shots 24-20 Tisdale

Tisdale wins 6-3 with an empty netter. Brew carried the play in the second half of the game and nearly mounted a comeback. Tisdale goalie made some big saves to secure the win. Should be a good game tomorrow night in Brew.
