This might be the slowest provincial A series in recent memory. I know it always looks slower when you watch it from a video, but I swear there’s adult safe games in January with more speed and skill than these 2 teams are showing!

Fastest game around. Live stream makes it look slow. More contact than any nhl game on this Saturday night! I’d rather watch any Sask senior game then pay to watch a bunch of princesses in the show.

I agree. Game was fast. Both teams can skate. Carlyle was the better team last week but Round Lake was the better team today. Be interesting to see which team brings it in game 3.

Carlyle, holy . Get rid of that black netting around the rink. Fundraise and install some taller glass. That was ing awful to try and watch through. Someone with a low IQ was permitted to make that decision.

Hello all, just a brief recap from last nite's game. Round Lake played it smart and conservatively and were entirely deserving of the victory. It was 0-0 after one. Four minutes into the second, a wrister from #19 Scott Woytas deflected off a Cougar defender and found the twine behind Talen King making it 1-0. With 26 seconds left, Kurtis Luke shot a puck towards net which deflected high in the air and behind a startled King to make it 2-0 after two. Yellowhorn got a valuable insurance marker seconds into the third and an empty netter made it a 4-0 final. Missing in this game for the Cougars were Scott Glennie and Carter Struthers, which made their lineup smaller and perhaps faster, but sadly more ineffective. Carlyle had very few high quality scoring chances and the Bears owned the space in front of their net. Final shots were around 43-30 for Round Lake. Penalties were around 10 each (all minors) with no power play goals or shorties scored. I thought the reffing was fine and not a factor in the final outcome. There were very few scrums after the whistle. The crowd was amazing and estimated at 900 making the Carlyle Sports Arena full and cozy. The game started with a 3 man aboriginal drumming and the Chiefs from White Bear (Pasap) and Ochap (Bear) said greetings. Teagan Littlechief sang the national anthem. The crowd was intermingled peacefully with Round Lake, White Bear, and Cougar fans. Many came from many miles away as it was the only senior game in the area. Live streaming by Ochap (Shawnie Bear Facebook page) and the Cougars was top notch. Some waited for over 4 hours in the lineup. The massive pot of gold was won by the mom of one of the local Cougar veteran players. Again, full marks to the Bears and its coaching staff for changing its game plan from Game One and playing a more conservative, clean game. Totally deserving of the victory.

Neither team look great for "A". Basically both are registered as A and that as as far as that goes. I remember watching Southest Prairie Thunder out of Steinbach when they had a team in MB, and they would have absolutely schooled both these teams. On a side note, thanks to Shawnie Bear, great coverage and thanks for taking the time to do this live for us all! That was a AAA team That would explain it! Miles between the two levels of competition that is for sure.
