It’s unfortunate and probably unsustainable the ridiculous $ senior teams dish out. But it’s pay or get whupped every game if you go local talent only. Even worse when players get good $ then play shitty (Leroy) Bulych boys aren’t rich and starting up a new biz , and they are both worth $500 every game. That’s the way it is now I doubt if it will change back to no pay. Another couple things sticks cost $300 and a couple guys lose teeth every year. Dental can run into several thousand dollars and a lot of unpleasantness

Dental can run into several thousand dollars and a lot of unpleasantness Those guys aren’t buying their own sticks and teams pay for the insurance which includes dental. $15,000 tax free to play for the year for your hometown is wild no matter how you spin it. Let alone having 3 locals doing it on the same team |

I guess every player or town will have different pay situations. I can’t say if teams buy sticks and pay big $ but it’s possible
I do know there is insurance for dental but it is negligible. No where close to paying for a implants or other complex surgery if it’s required
