Due to many weekday games I've been later and later publishing these rankings. I should probably stick to a Sunday deadline but oh well.
Thanks to all who voted in the poll. It's a thankless job and, in some cases, I was surprised about the voting as I felt like more could care less what I have to say, In the end Foam Lake's biggest fan was the only one that voted that way (apparently I can see who votes!)
I'm really finding the margins razor thin and trying to balance results with strength of schedule. I have a headache processing it all.
1. Wilkie Outlaws-I might just have to write them here with a sharpie rather than a pencil (did I just give them the kiss of death?). Not surprisingly the Outlaws dominated the league all star and trophy lists. They received a bye in playoffs and await the quarter finals to conclude for their next appointment.
2. Foam Lake Flyers-Wadena has a bye, Watrous lost to Drake, Wynyard had a battle with Lanigan but the Flyers absolutely hammered Leroy. I saw the shots on net early in game 2 last night and it was waaay lopsided. Flyers now play Wynyard for a chance at the dance and start provincials with Lucky Lake coming to Town Saturday night,
3. Canora Cobras/Rocanvile Tigers-The Cobras are riding high heading into their playoff matchup with Cote after beating the Theodore Buffs 5-2 this weekend. They also beat Rosetown in Provincials and now are waiting for the Dinsmore vs Unity winner in round 2. Rocanville finished with an identical record as the Cobras but haven't played since the end of January. The Cobras play in a tougher division but I have them tied to start the playoffs.
4. Kenaston Blizzard-In light of some other teams recent playoff struggles Kenaston moves up due to them handling CB a little easier (at least on the score sheet) then their main SVHL competition.
5. Lumsden Monarchs-Play Balgonie in playoffs starting this weekend and also start provincials against Drake on Monday.
6. Balcarres Broncs-Beat Southey in game 1 of their playoff Series and also dispatched a strong Moosomin team in provincials. They now play Wynyard in prov which from people I have talked may be a war.
7. Wadena Wildcats-On a little break. The Cats are waiting for the winner of the Drake vs Watrous. They start their run at a second banner vs Jansen on Saturday.
8. Davidon Cyclones/Dinsmore Dynamos-Davidson beat Brendbury in provincials and Outlook 5-2 but lost last night to Outlook in OT. Dinsmore beat Unity in provincials and hammered Delisle once but then needed OT to beat them a second time. Is the parity in the SVHL showing or are these 2 teams struggling?
9. Redvers Rockets-Needed OT to beat Oxbow last Saturday. Have 2 games on the schedule with games against Carnduff and Wawota before playoffs in the Big 6. Don't play Craik in prov for a couple more weeks.
10. Paradise Hill Hawks/Lashburn Flyers-Both teams head into playoffs with aspirations to hang a banner. I like the 5 game series in the quarter finals in the league. PHill gets Elk Point and Lashburn gets Vermillion,
