For some Leagues the regular season is ending and playoffs are starting. For other leagues we still have a couple weeks to play..
1. Wilkie Outlaws-The Outlaws just keep winning. They beat Hafford 6-2 on Friday. They have a light schedule (2 games) so that should help them in their Provincial run where they have to trek all the way to Porcupine Plain.
2. Wadena Wildcats-It’s not very often you keep your position in the standing when you lose. It almost comes down to what is better beating a lower end team in the SVHL (for example) or losing in OT to a team that just might hand a banner this season. So strictly based on strength of schedule I’m leaving them at 2. The Cats beat Leroy before losing to Foam Lake in OT.
3. Davidson Cyclones-the “Clones” fished their first regular season in the SVHL with a 14-1-1 record. They got some revenge on Central Butte with a 4-2 win on Saturday. It’s not very often a team can hang a banner in one of the best leagues one year and then the next hand another one in another one of the best leagues but Davidson has a real shot at that this season.
4. Dinsmore Dynamos-Dinsmore beat a very strong Kyle team 7-3 this week to jump a bit in the standings
5. Foam Lake Flyers- I said previously that Foam Lake would have a chance to jump in these standings after this weekend. Well they did just that by first beating Watrous 8-5 on Friday. On Saturday In a back and forth affair that saw Foam Lake jump out to a 4-1 lead before having Wadena storm back to take a 5-4 lead Into the games final minute Foam Lake scored to tie it and then, after killing of a penalty in OT they scored to beat Wadena. Judging by the chatter on the forum these teams hate each other. Or at the very least Foam Lake hates Wadena. Should make for some good games if these teams meet up in playoffs.
6. Moosomin Rangers-The Rangers fall a few spots after losing to Redvers in league. They also lost to Balcarres in Prov however I didn’t factor that into the drop. They may have dropped further but Redvers is one of the top 15-20 teams in the Province as well.
7. Canora Cobras/Rocanville Tigers- while I had Canora ahead of Rocanville after Canora’s win against them I have them tied this week. This is mainly due to the fact that they both just hammered other teams this week and have identical records. Neither really deserve to drop it’s just the strength of the schedule that hurt them.
8. Lumsden Monarchs-the Monarchs Separated themselves from the pack a bit by beating both Milestone and Raymore. Raymore was on a 9 game win streak I think so that makes it even more impressive.
9. Kenaston Blizzard-Kenaston beat both Eston and Craik this weekend. So I’ll leave them at 9.
10. Redvers Rockets-with wins against the previously undefeated Moosomin Rangers and Bienfait the Rockets climb up to 20 in the rankings.
HM- Coronach, Gull Lake/Shaunavon, Paradise Hill, Meota, Neilburg, Willow Cree, Balcarres.
