As some leagues regular season is fast coming to an end crunch time is upon us in these frigid Prairie days. The top 10 is getting tougher as some of the teams records are getting closer...
1. Wilkie Outlaws-15-0. Since I crowned them the number 1 team they have beaten Edam, Macklin and Kinderlsey without so much as a nailbiter game among the 3. Hafford, Biggar and Unity are the only teams with the chance to ruin Wilkie's perfect regular season.
2. Wadena Wildcats-The Cats moved to 13-1 on the season with a win against Drake this weekend. This weekend they have home games vs Leroy and Foam Lake. The Cats get a lot of publicity on Wicked Deadly but at the end of the day they get the job done.
3. Moosomin Rangers-12-0. The Rangers have beaten their biggest rivals the last few weekends (and also Wawota) in their game this weekend they dispatched Carnduff. Bud Holloway has a healthy 14 point lead in the scoring race over his teammate Brock Trotter. Interesting that if you took away Bud's assists his goals alone would have him tied for 5th in the league in scoring. This weekend the Rangers go into Redvers and then on Saturday they start their Provincial run against Balcarres.
4. Davidson Cyclones-13-1-1. After their OT loss to Central Butte (is everyone losing to Central Butte?) the Cyclones beat Eston on Saturday. They end their season with another tilt vs Central Butte this Saturday. While the scoring race in the SVHL is very tight it is interesting that the Cyclones only have 2 scorers in the top 20. Just shows how well rounded of a team they are.
5. Canora Cobras-10-1. The Snakes handily beat Wapella and Ituna on the weekend. They end their regular season with a home game against Cote and then head to Swan River to play the Axeman followed by a Division matchup vs Theodore.
6. Dinsmore Dynamos 13-2-Had a hard time getting by Delisle on Saturday but hammered Rosetown on Sunday. Big matchup against Kyle tomorrow night in Kyle.
7. Rocanville Tigers-9-1. I'm led to believe that there is no one that Rocanville would rather beat right now than Theodore. And they did just that by beating them 5-1 on Saturday.
8. Central Butte Flyers-8-4. How on earth can an 8-4 team make the top 10 you might ask? Well when that team beats Davidson, Kenaston and Kyle in succession that's how.
9. Kenaston Blizzard-11-3. Da Blizz lost to the giant killer Central Butte Flyers but then bounced back with a win against Lucky Lake. They play Eston and Craik to end their regular season.
10. The top 5 teams in the QVHHL-There are always arguments about the top Leagues in the Province and this league is usually near the top of those discussions. This year the parity in the league has these teams knocking each other off on a regular basis. As such these teams have between 3-5 losses each. There is no doubt they are all talented teams and the fans are really the winners here as they get to watch these hotley contested games.
HM's Foam Lake (lost to Drake but beat Leroy), Kyle (beast Eston but lost to CB), Paradise Hill (didn't play), Redvers (play Moosomin 1 more time), Willow Cree
