Sorry for the late Top 10. But better late than never.
1. Wadena Wildcats-Convincing wins against Wynyard and Lanigan this week. 10-0 in one of the strongest leagues in Sask. Their last game of the year has Watrous coming to Town Friday.
2. Wilkie Outlaws-A tight 4-3 win vs Macklin on Saturday. Games vs Kindersley and Edam before the New Year will give the Sask West Top Dogs a chance to really separate themselves from the pack. They are already running away with the league to this point. One thing I find interesting about Wilkie, and also Wadena, is they are 2 of the most veteran laden teams but still the Top teams. What's that old adage play smarter not harder? Yet I seen both teams play last year and they work just as hard as anyone.
3. Davidson Cyclones-They beat Craik Twice the past week and for good measure dominated Loreburn last night to get to 10-1 in the Valley. This team, over the past numbers of years, has been built around a strong core of locals. They have had quite a few different imports but the ones they find have really fit in well. New import Ian Parker leads the team with 17 goals.
4. Foam Lake Flyers-The Flyers keep moving up. Wins vs Leroy and Watrous last week got them to 9-1 and have a Christmas matchup vs Lanigan on Friday. I always think of Foam Lake as an offensive team, which is easy when you have a guy scoring 2 goals a game, but it is defending that is moving them up this year. There is lots of talk about Wadena's vaunted defense, and rightfully so, yet after both playing 10 games Foam Lake has allowed 3 less goals than Wadena. They have 4 guys on the back end that played in the Western League so one could argue they are actually built from the back out.
5. Kenaston Blizzard-They beat Outlook and Central Butte. They are done until January. They are blessed with 2 great lines however the one line is averaging 3 points a game to lead the way and Connor Gay is leading the league in scoring.
6. Balcarres Broncos-Even though they are 8-3 they enter the conversation on the backs of their wins against other top 10 teams in Grenfell and Milestone this week. Many had them as a top team to start the year and they are seemingly starting to show it.
7. Rocanville Tigers-Smashed Ituna 20-1. Plenty of chatter on what the Tigers are paying Taylor Thompson well they are getting their money's worth as he leads the league with 32 points in 6 games. That is 5.3 pts per game for you stats guys. They play Wapella in their pre Christmas game Friday.
8. Moosomin Rangers-They haven't played for a long while. But the long awaited test vs the Redvers Rockets is almost upon us. Tomorrow night will be a great test to see who the pre Christmas Favs in the Big 6 are!
9. Dinsmore Dynamos-They fall to 9 this week. They only beat Rosetown by 2 goals after hammering Lucky Lake and then they lost to Kyle last night. I guess that was the benefit of waiting until late in the week to post a top 10.
10. Meota Combines-Beat Glaslyn and Maidstone this week. In tighter games than they are used to but they still keep winning.
In the Conversation this week. Canora, Hodgeville, Gull Lake, Wainwright
