I'm just curious - what are the reviews from SVHL players and fans on the Pillar Dome in Craik? There are some really good and some not so good barns in the SVHL, how would you rank them?

If they didn’t have Tyson Scott doing Tyson Scott things it wouldn’t be bad.

Boards are ed never know how the puck will bounce, puck is out of play every minute, no flow to a game. Anyone know why they don’t put glass in? Pillars are right there can’t be hard. Glass won’t fix the 20 ft ceiling, place needs a match

Rinks rated F- place is a dump but the inbred crew in craik just love it. Not even sure how they allow sha sanctioned hockey in there tbh.

Other than using the glass to clear the puck, or flipping the puck up and out. How does the rink change the game? There dressing rooms and showers are big and nice, and the benches are plenty big enough for 18 skaters, the lights on the ice are plenty bright, and the ice is as good as anyone’s. Yes corners are not as rounded as they should be, and end boards are not very lively. It’s not a great rink, but Craik doesn’t have enough population to put together a single minor hockey team. With today’s costs of just about everything, there is no way they could ever justify the purchase to the entire community. I feel for them there, I’m sure they’d like a new rink as much as the next guy.

Ok………enough…….How many threads do we have to start on Craiks Barn. I feel like every time there is a game there, someone experiences it for the first time and a new thread pops up. It’s all they got……get over it. I’m not a Craik guy or fan but good on em for keeping it alive. It will be a factor come playoffs ……so you better embrace it and not let it get in your head. I’m gonna take this thread in a different direction. In my opinion the worse barn in the league is The AGT Centre in Davidson. Shame on you for making 30-45 yr old less than fit men skate on that Olympic Pond. I don’t care how good the Fries are! Bring back the “Diesel Dome”! Which by the way was very similar to the “Pillar Dome”!

Yeh, the rink is old, but so is complaining about the rink. Does Craik hold an advantage over every team that visits? Same ceiling, corners, and no glass. I can’t imagine you game up 4 goals shorts because of any of these reasons. So tired of hearing about the old barn. Excuses..

And yes, the pillars were ever present much like Craik!

It's called low hanging fruit. We could also discuss the blue goal posts in Lucky Lake, which I'm pretty sure are actually illegal.

Love playing in craik! Such a odd atmosphere and changes the way you gotta play the game.

"1.4 (d) The goal posts, cross bar and exterior surface of other supporting framework for the goal will be painted red. The surface of the base plate inside the goal and supports other than the goal post will be painted in a light colour." Good thinking, blue posts or no glass??
