Just curious when Hockey Canada and or Sask Hockey implements neck guards for Senior Hockey players. All leagues in Saskatchewan are mandated now even officials Senior leagues can’t be far behind. our Junior leagues starting to wear Cages thinking won’t be long here either Thinking people will say that would be the end of Senior Hockey. Senior Hockey did not fold when half visitors came in

I’ve seen more guys get concussions playing with a cage on than without a cage.

i had never ever gotten a high stick in face accidental or otherwise....then visors were brought in and next thing you know you need stitches once or twice a year from high sticks...both accidental and intentional....so ya the young guys coming up always carried their sticks and elbows higher now because of visors...fast forward to having a full cage...okay for minor hockey but no way for unior & senior........the lower senior leagues will become serious shit shows with a violence that is very dangerous

Can see cages becoming mandatory due to insurance reasons. Junior A in Canada is already making them Mandatory Started this year with players born on or after Jan 1 2005 have to wear them. I don't see the harm in cages honestly, they use them in division 1 college in states and they don't seem to have any problems.
Neck guards as well I believe should be mandatory I don't understand why they aren't, such a small piece of equipment that provides a great deal of after

I think these rules will eventually be brought in, but when they do, I’m hoping it’s grandfathered in. And the problem with cages is the guys that choose to stay with visors are going to be dinged up on the regular. Kids with cages are going to sticks up all night every night. I’ve been sticked high 2 times seriously and both times where from guys with cages on.

Cages mandatory would speed up the pace of play and make the games more realistic scores with more guys getting there bodies in the way of shots not worrying about showing up to work the next week missing teeth and stitches from the senior game the night before.

Heard rumblings Sask hockey is considering implementing neck guards at all levels of sanctioned hockey. Could see this happening in the next couple days. If not this season there is no doubt in my mind it will happen next season. Don’t see the issue with neck guards, they literally have 0 effect on the game.
As for cages I understand the argument against them, personally I do not like cages. I don’t think they will be made mandatory in senior. Didn’t junior leagues get ride of visors because the insurance was too expensive? Which makes sense, but in senior the leagues don’t have insurance so what would motivate them to implement the use of cages?

There is insurance in Senior. Okay idk how it works to be honest. Is it the leagues themselves insuring or is it like the general hockey Canada insurance?
