Watrous wins 4-1. Drake had a short bench with 13 guys, watrous dressed 18-2
1st period was a mess for both teams, bouncing pucks and guys finding their hands. Dmyterko and Bartel both made some great saves. Helm scores to make it 1-0 Watrous. 2nd period Watrous carried the play and was up 3-0 on goals from Lamotte and Smith, before C Blair gets one back. 3rd period was mostly watrous and helm scores another. Shots 40-26 for Watrous.
New import Drake Bodie looked good for drake. But missing Roy, stumborg, Johnson, and Fiddler, obviously hurt them.
Watrous missing mychan and king.
No more free spot on the bingo card when you come to Watrous from the looks of it.

Also took in the game last night in Watrous. Fast and physical game for each teams first of the year. Drake played well being short staffed, got gassed towards the end. Watrous will be tough to beat when they get rolling, deep team.

Watrous is definitely the team to beat after finishing dead last, last year, and then crushing Drake (with 10 guys) 4-1 in their first game this year. Definitely.

Watrous is my early favourite to win the long lake but lets be honest, if you're gonna spend $3-4000 a game you damn well better be good.

I think everyone could probably cool it on Watrous being the team to beat. They beat Drake 4–1 and Drake had half their roster. Watrous roster looks good, but let’s let them prove it.

By the sounds of it Drake will probably have a lineup similar to that all winter, they were very close to folding. really hope thats not the case... the LLHL can't afford to lose any teams, having Fiddler up front, and then Roy hopefully on a semi consistent basis will make a big difference. |
