Just following the predictions thread and I see that LeRoy is out for the year and Watrous wasn't a sure thing for this season. These are two towns with a long history of hockey in Saskatchewan. Is this just a blip or is this a sign of things to come for senior hockey? Maybe every town experiences ups and downs, makes me think of places like Shellbrook, Rosthern, Lumsden, Southey...or going way back, places like Simpson and Imperial where there were really strong teams for years. What do you think the future holds for senior hockey in Saskatchewan?

I sure hope it’s a blip. Bottom line is you need local players to keep a team going. if your constantly bringing in imports and stretching your population to find better players, it can turn away the local players. This is a weird year so hopefully it’s just a blip.

They were all young also. They had a competitive team on paper last year so hopefully their back next year. What I heard about the Watrous situation was that the locals were pissed off with management about never getting ice time etc.

It’s to bad the Braves don’t have a team, does anyone know where the players all went? For the Watrous situation, it was only a matter of time. They threw big money out for a mediocre team last year before the season got shut down. Buying a junior B goalie matching colour set of goalie equipment also isn’t cheap.
