kind of surprised, i thought more folks would vote on this. This is actually a step back for some teams cause they will have to cut an import or go in B so now you have communities with 4-500 people competing with communities up to 5000 population. This is not a good step forward. This is not going to attract more teams. They should keep the non import rule in and reward the players and teams that are loyal to each other. I would go: B- 5 imports + 1 non import C/D- 4 imports +1 non import |

These rules will not add more teams to provincials. Making the divisions based off of elites will. Get rid of populations and just have elite status. Thus making a C/D bracket filled will more local teams that don’t attract high end talent feel they have a shot at going for a title. Would make for good competitive hockey in all divisions

No populations anymore.
A - unlimited imports
B - 5 imports
C - 4 imports
D - 3 imports
Local considered from town or within 100 km radius of town.

While I still believe the current rules work to allow more teams to enter but 50% of the senior teams could care less about SHA provincials...these guidelines are the only other ones proposed in this discussion that may help increase teams entering if that is the goal of SHA. Which is why I circle back to this...what is the reason(s) there is so much discussion about this. Does SHA stand to gain from an increase in senior teams entering? With leagues decreasing their regular seasons, is their an appetite for increased provincial rounds? Is there enough refs to cover the increase? Just for kicks...2008-09 SHA Provincials had 86 (give or take 1-2) teams total A-D. When you look at the teams entering...a few things stood out: -teams who usually entered no longer do/sporadic entry such as Shellbrook, Hague, Dalmeny, Tisdale, Shaunavon, Gull Lake -teams that regularly entered no longer exist such as Nokomis, Raymore, Cupar, Kelvington, Strasbourg, Luesland -the usual suspects always have and always will enter such as LLHL, SVHL, QVHHL, Big 6 and SWHL -teams that didn't enter never have and never will enter |

Would be nice to see more teams enter, but kudos to all the teams that do enter. Even the weaker teams that enter, good for them. there’s no excuse for some teams. Example would be battleford or meota, tisdale or any top team in those “so called weaker leagues” I don’t care if u have to enter A. Warman did it for years. IMO provincials is more exciting than league playoffs. 🍔 out

Instead of import juggling and the resulting loss of teams in prov draw. Why not just rule that your league team is your prov team. No additions. Be best if every league allowed the same number of imports on the league roster.

I think get rid of the population, and maybe D category go three imports or something like that

Be best if every league allowed the same number of imports on the league roster. in a perfect world, yeah. Leagues have such vastly different import rules, for their own reasons. Some leagues would straight up fold if import/elite rules changed. |
