Season Predictions (PreSeason Version)
1. Foam Lake - Overcome the hump, always in the mix, this is their year
2. Drake - Also always a favourite, rightfully so. They lose to Foam Lake in the finals.
3. Davidson - Here is where my rankings could change, (3 through 6 will change) With the high turnover they will compete still with everyone, out of my rankings the cyclones have the most room to fall.
4. Lanigan - Additions coming in, some heading out, feeling generous for a once annual powerhouse. They do not have enough to be in league final. Final four would be a good season for them.
5. Wynyard - Going all local, a nice approach most towns don't have the luxury of going down. Losing all huskies will hurt, big time, will also compete with everyone on most night, could surprise
6. Watrous - The dragon has been slayed in 21-22? Still early to tell but weird to have this franchise down here.
Best of luck to all teams. Will reconvene after Christmas to see how far off I am. Get out and support your local team or soon you wont have one to go watch!
That was my 2021 predictions in Oct, turns out with a Drake/FL tie in the reg season I call it close enough to 6/6. Got the final two and the 2021 Champ correct so here goes nothing for 2022!
Season Predictions (PreSeason Version)
1. Foam Lake - To be the best, you have to beat the best. This team again is always in the mix so I can't start them anywhere but here. However, lots of tough competition this year, pretty quiet out of FL, guess most guys are coming back?
2. Drake - Putting these guys number 2 but will not be another trip to finals for them. Goaltending a week spot and hearing they have lost their best player in McFaul.
3. Wynyard - the Calgary Flames of the LLHL, their roster will have the most shakeup year over year. The Wynyard Huskies move up my rankings from last year, hearing rumours that the local/townies are very mad about many locals being cut this year
4. Wadena - with their promotion to the A division, rest assured there will be no 17-0 season. With that said, tons of talent coming in, for me Wadena has the most room to fall on my list.
5. Davidson - Down a couple, adding a couple, the Cyclones will be very competitive every night. Healthy goaltending would help them in a big way unlike this last year. Allan brothers back again is this the year Davidson takes a step back?
6. Leroy - The Leroy Braves - its always awesome to see teams come back from taking year(s) off, not only are they back, so is the money, and with it a fresh roster from the Kyle Elks. This team has the most potential for a higher ranking come Xmas.
7. Lanigan - Deserves to be much much higher, the league is going to be that strong that I have not much other choice. Even if everyone is back, the roster looked last year to be more than a couple guys shy of that top tier.
8. Watrous - Keeping their cards close to their chest, they are trying to bring out players again, they aren't going winless in 2022.
Similar to last year, check back in after Christmas. Hearing this will be one of, if not the best senior league in the province this year -> get out to watch your local team. No better place to convene to BS and bring together the community, Goodluck to all teams!!
