no hockey till dec 17, which lines up with sha's mandatory break till new years. pretty doubtful it fires back up. see you guys on the sled trails Yup, only 30 people would have been allowed in the rink, kids can still practice but only in groups of 8.

Absolute joke! Government keeps their stuff going, while telling the people what to do. It’s a bad move to rights and freedoms. Christmas at the casino because you can’t have family in your own house. Wow

Christmas at the casino because you can’t have family in your own house. Wow We were literally the last western province to keep hockey going, you had to see this coming with 200+ cases a day for over a week with such a small population. Not saying I agree with it, but they are trying to keep things going that keep people employed, I'm sorry but non taxable "sticks and gas" is probably the least of their worries on things to keep open... I also heard some schools were going to make students/parents choose between going to school or doing extra-curricurlar activities and homeschooling. As it's not fair to the entire class to have to isolate because 1 student got covid while out doing extra-curricurlar things. And if they shut down Minor hockey, I'd have a tough time justifying to the kids why the adults get to play and they don't .

And if they shut down Minor hockey, I'd have a tough time justifying to the kids why the adults get to play and they don't . The blanketing rules over the cities and the towns are the most ridiculous part. I can understand kids in the city not being able to play hockey being that they could be coming from 4 different schools and have contacts with 1000+ kids in a day. But in small towns you have say 16 seven and eight year olds that spend all day (6 hours) in a classroom together at a school with only 200 kids. But then those same 16 kids can't go to the rink and have a practice together for an hour after school? Makes a ton of sense. Feel bad for the kids. I can somewhat understand shutting down senior, and even the games for the kids. But no practicing for anyone is ridiculous. Small town rinks should be allowed to have their own town's residents use the facility. Everyone spent the money to have their ice put in, which is a lot for small communities, and now the rinks are going to sit empty and unused. If you want to talk about hurting small business how about hurting small communities that struggle as it is to keep facilities open.

Dec 7th 2020 and we wait on for the kids and our local small town rinks. These 8 person skate practices are not it. Anyone close to the information here anything about a the potential startup, and if so what it might look like and when?
Im saying a hard no, but what are the chances if pushed back that rinks operate later than usual and close down end of April? thoughts

With days of 400 cases, and a large part of the population that will disregard meeting over Christmas, it’s not likely to drop enough to restart soon. I’d love to say that the rinks will stay open until the end of April but the only way that is happening is with a direct bailout from the govt. The rinks are going to be hurting this year and will struggle to maintain the status quo.

The only way hockey can open is to cancel senior hockey and minor hockey a try and see what happens. Senior failed once and it affected kids. Let the kids play

It's not coming back this year. Where are kids cases coming from that are shutting down classrooms?
Can't fully blame senior hockey for that.

Seems THEY (MP’s and MLA’s) aren’t worried about the pandemic, since they can travel out of country etc. For people in the THEY, it would appear this is more of a control measure than a health crisis? Let’s get back to living life free of government control!
