Per sources, Edam picked up the McDonald brothers out of Turtleford. Also grabbed Layne Young and a goalie from Paradise Hill. I can’t see Debden coming close in this one, assuming their roster is similar to before Covid.

Haha sorry to say but both those towns would be within the 120km radius and taking there population obviously still puts them in the lower half of the C/D entries.

Likely won't be eligible till at least late 2nd round as he has to serve all 11 games with Turtleford before he can play with Edam. So likely after game 1 or 2 of round 2 for playoffs depending how round 1 goes for them.

The only thing Debden might win in that series against edam is a fan brawl in the stands. Edam is deep, goaltending might be their only downfall. edam is deep? Probably worst depth in provincials. Half their player never played anywhere but house and Debden doesn’t have a single player that didn’t play junior some where. I counted at least 9 on Edams league roster who played Jr A or better, plus 4 more jr pickups, and the guys who didnt play jr, i know a few played AAA, and arent slouches. They'll have a decent provincial roster I think.

Debden put together a nice local team? Yeah, so has Kenaston, Edam, Kyle, Craik, Foam Lake etc. That’s the whole point of these teams being in D. They aren’t teams with eight or ten imports or two teams combing that are out together just for a provincial run. These teams are playing by the rules so what’s the issue? Kenaston hasn’t won squat, not a provincial or league banner in a very long time. So they should go A because they were doing well on December 10th? Teams that win over an extended period of time often will try different classifications ie- Wilkie. Let’s all hold off with the crowning of anyone. With Covid and injuries no one is assured of anything. Why do people shit on D hockey? It’s not every team’s goal to win A with a team of imports. As has been said there are strong teams all over every classification. your saying kenaston is local talent when five of their top six forwards aren’t from their and neither is their goalie. Seems the only reason that team is competitive is because imports. Seems pretty local to me

Who is different on Debden and Edam rosters from last time They played in provincials? Seems to me two teams with very little goaltending and will probably be a rough series. Winner gets the privilege of a couple 10-0 losses to kenaston.

Before the entire roster was born and raised in debden.

Maybe there’s some middle ground between Kenaston crushing everyone 10-0 and being a fraud. Macklin won’t be a pushover and the Edam/Debden winner will push Kenaston to up there game from how they’ve been playing since Xmas. Kenaston has loads of talent but they have zero track record of winning when the going gets tight and the stakes are high.
In the south, Craik having home ice against Kyle will be huge. Kyle has the pedigree but two years ago Craik looked like they were on their way or a title before Covid took away their chance. Foam Lake was in the same spot as Craik with a banner in their grasp two years ago. They will be hungry and a very tough out.

Story is, Craik is still pretty strong, however they don’t have Blair Jones this year. He is apparently a strong hold antivaccer. Fair to say Craik leaned on him heavily a few years back. They should handle the Lakers easily, but the Kyle matchup will push them to limit.

Debdens downfall is goaltending Edams house midget team may have better goaltending then Debdens provs team! I've seen Boon play a couple times in a fairly strong sask-alta league. And he is a pretty good goalie. 3 GAA and .911 save % in senior hockey is pretty decent. And that league is up there with the top teams in Sask west league I'd say.
