Just wondered how communities are doing it ? In pre covid days you hoped to keep the rink going with minor hockey games tournaments and sr hockey. In the past our community a minor hockey tournament almost every weekend whether it was local or out of town teams. Over the christmas break you would have week day tournaments and sr hockey would pack the rink for a least 1 or 2 games. There was a boxing day rec tourney and dance. Then provincials which could be up to 5 rounds and playoffs. You could have the rink busy to April 1st. Sr teams playing 40 or more games and minor teams close to that also. Now we have half the league games nothing over christmas and provincials has 2 maybe 3 rounds . Not saying it will go back to that but our rink had trouble paying the bills in the good years .
