Another horrendous reffing performance in senior hockey. Not saying it necessarily changed the outcome of the game, because it was equally bad both ways. Terrible calls on both sides. Goals that should have been goals waved off, goals that shouldn’t have been goals called goals. Penalties missed, phantom calls, all the usual. Again, both ways so probably evened out in the end. But horribly Inconsistent and down right bad on both ends of the ice for both teams. Sad to see but it’s the usual nowadays.

Give some explanation to the questionable goals?? What were the teams power play %% Okay. One example. Two identical plays at each end of the ice. Scrum infront of the net. Goalie down. Bodies on top of netminder. Goal disallowed at one end of the ice. Ten minutes later the identical situation happens goal is allowed. Both times there was a member of the opposite team on top of the opponents goalies. Not saying whether both should be goals or not. But both should be the same. Can’t have one goal and one no goal on identical plays. Another. Delayed penalty on Wynyard. Foam lake takes a shot. Puck is loose in goalies feet (goalie is standing up) foam lake player taps it in and red simultaneously blows whistle. No goal. Should not have blown whistle puck was clearly visible. Third period. Wynyard player in the slot. Slots top corner. Puck clearly hits back bar (goal). Players on both teams stop playing. Wynyard player is celebrating. Refs don’t blow whistle. Play continues on. They say no goal it hit the post. Everyone in the rink knew it was in except the zebras. I’m not saying they swayed the game one way or another significantly. But they were awful. Everyone’s first defense for poor reffing is “well you do it then”. How about the guys who are paid very very well to ref at least call a consistent game and do their best.

What I’ve noticed consistently is, when foam lake loses, the reffing was horrible.

That’s more what he is saying. Yes. There’s a handful of guys that ref this league are consistently good. Another handful that are always bad. And a few that are hit and miss. But the consistently bad ones seem to get lots of work in this league. Personal opinion, better reffing come provincial time traveling to other areas of the province is what I see. It’s just those few refs that you always see that are always bad.

The province is short on Refs. There’s nothing we can do about it. And the more people complain the worse it’s going to be to try and convince people to get into reffing. The game was played, sure there could be some bad calls. Happens to every team. At least we aren’t shut down due to Covid. Count your blessings and move past it.
