Inaugural Prairie Men's Hockey League Season's Predictions
Since the official announcement of this new league, I have been through many rigorous clairvoyant exercises in order to craft the best and most accurate predictions for the upcoming season. Here are my thoughts on the final standings and records.
1st: Cupar Canucks (9-3): Cupar has been out of any senior league since 2018-19 in the Highway Hockey League, with a 6-12-2 record. This coming season, the roster includes players who have been long time Canucks / players coming out of a hockey hiatus to rejoin the Squad. Sources tell me Cupar had a few younger players who played in the QVHHL last season, and all of my visions lead me to believe they are getting most of them back for this year. The combination of the younger players ontop of the legendary leadership from the Boha brothers, no doubts in my mind this team will be in the top 2 (of a 4 team league)
Team MVP: Brett Boha (F): Projected Goals: 11 (8 empty netters)
2nd: Strasbourg Maroons (7-5): Strasbourg has not had a full season since the 2019-20 Highway Hockey League season. They had an impressive 0-17-1 record, and had the honor to have one of the worst records of all time in the HHL's last full season as a league. Nonetheless, I forsee improvement in Strasbourg. The Maroons also now have a Junior C team in the QVJHL for this upcoming season. I would not be surprised if this team finishes first, but I am not fully convinced. SKOOOO MAROOONS
Team MVP: [REDACTED INFORMATION]: Projected Points: 29 Points
3rd: Ituna Avalanche (5-7): Ituna is the only team that has had a team for quite a few years. They put up a record of 2-12 this most recent season in the Sask East. Recency bias at the forefront of this evaluation, but this team had a pretty poor record, with other poor teams in their league. I could also see them doing better than my predicted record, as they have experience together. To my knowledge, their roster will be close to the exact same as last season.
Team MVP: Brendan Spilchuk (D): Projected Plus-Minus: +1
4th: Indian Head Chiefs (3-9): Indian Head last played in the QVHL 2017-18 Season. If you thought 0-17-1 record was impressive, Indian Head managed to end their season 0-18-0. Potentially having the worst season ever recorded in Saskatchewan Senior Hockey. Indian Head has had good hockey in the past, I believe that they will start the season slow, but end the season / playoffs at their peak. Goaltending has been an issue in Indian Head, and based on my visions I don't see massive improvement.
Team MVP: Trevor Viergutz (G): Projected GAA: 7.64
As an insider of all things Saskatchewan Senior Hockey, I would like to know everyones thoughts. Since I am clairvoyant, I already know the truth behind my reasoning, but would still like to hear your (wrong) opinions on the matter.
