I’ve been complaining for way too many years about the ridiculous amount of moneys being paid. I hate that the towns that raise the most amount win. Where is the pride in that. Impossible to put the genie back in the bottle, I know but I enjoyed the hockey in the 80’s and 90’s more. Sure the overall skill level was down, but the rinks were full, the hockey was competitive the locals got to play, the businesses and local farmers weren’t fleeced, the bars were full after every home game. Now the imports take there money and head back to the city. Sadly there’s no going back. I think in 5 to 7 years there will half the teams there is today. Hope I’m wrong. I will say that the communities who are able to meet somewhere in the middle and have locals with some import help are the ones doing it correctly. You have to have those guys to compete but picking the right guys is the key. If you can get guys to stick around for a few years and enjoy the community that is what senior hockey is about now. Stop paying selfish players who aren’t worried about the community success and more worried about collecting a paycheque, and this will change.

The Big Six, while it may not be best league in the province has this. Other than a few teams there is great community support and awesome fans in most rinks. Also a lot of local players still playing.

As the manager of a team it’s tough in today’s economy. It’s really hard to raze enough money in a town of 500 people to compete with the big boys. As always there is just enough SR caliber players. With more newer teams starting others will suffer. We are doing all we can because the community needs it. There is so many rules and stipulations on how you can raze money for an adult team that it makes it really hard unless some people with deep pockets want to see a winner.

If you’re thinking about playing senior and are unsure or on the fence. This might help don’t play senior is a complete waste of time energy and effort. Late nights no weekends off. Senior is a shit show bush league glorified rec hockey with mangers players and management that want to control you. Unless your making 500 a game it’s not worth your time. Senior was better when 12 or 13 guys show up and go for a skate now we have social media and Monday nooner and 4 lines for senior hockey, complete joke hope this helps since when was senior hockey EVER "12 or 13 guys going for a skate"? Lmao When there was a power play back when they were playing with the rover position back in the 1920's
