The long lake, QV, SVHL, and Swhl, are killing the other leagues by paying players way too much. At first, I thought that three elite rule in some leagues was dumb but now I’ve changed my mind about it. I give it another five years and there will be a quarter of the teams in the province folding

If you chat to many of these teams, they're becoming beyond frustrated because every Tom, Dick, and Harry thinks he needs a paycheque.
When you have teams like Langenburg paying AAA players with minimal junior experience $600 per game plus sticks, it's no wonder so many guys are out to lunch with what their worth.
I've even spoke to house league guys having the audacity to think they deserve to be paid.

I give it another five years and there will be a quarter of the teams in the province folding either that or they will change their rules to make less import spots. then for sure the quality of the hockey goes down. honestly a discussion about a AA league needs to maybe happen? just not sure there would be the support for something like that to happen. twin rivers is 3 imports that have played ## games of junior A. teams can bring in as many players as they link under those qualifications. so you get lots of junior B players out there thinking they deserve 2-300 a game. crazy times.

It’s also hard to find players within the leagues population rules and when almost every player has played Jr B or Jr A in these days and towns are growing in population immensely. It’s just becoming increasingly difficult to fit under the these thresholds. Which is the reason the $ for players is driving up , cuz if you find a good one that fits the limited spots, your not only paying for him to be on ur team, but to keep him off another squad. There are going to be tons of former jr.a or jr.b players without homes this year.

If you’re thinking about playing senior and are unsure or on the fence. This might help don’t play senior is a complete waste of time energy and effort. Late nights no weekends off. Senior is a shit show bush league glorified rec hockey with mangers players and management that want to control you. Unless your making 500 a game it’s not worth your time. Senior was better when 12 or 13 guys show up and go for a skate now we have social media and Monday nooner and 4 lines for senior hockey, complete joke hope this helps

Yes play rec, where you pay $500 to go skate around guys and move the puck and not get it back. Also , half the games are 1045 on a Sunday night and barely competitive. A lot of guys who used to play that maybe works 3-4 times a year. Other than that there is a lot guys would rather be doing with their TIME., than still taking high sticks , injuries from Randoms who play rec because they could never make it out of Bantam A. When there is incentive and a decent group of guys plus fans , I’m sure most competitive players would rather play senior and not lose all their skills and still bond with communities and meet new guys.

Guys have been paid to play since at least the early 90s yeah, guys weren't getting paid, but it was still extremely competitive. I'd argue it was even more competitive back then because guys were playing purely for pride.

Agreed, It was more competitive back then because you had pride to beat the town that was 10 miles down the road and the next town another 10 miles away, everyone knew everyone, rivalry hockey. Schools closing and rinks folding, no kids no minor hockey. Small town rinks used to be full of life all winter, but she aint the 80's or 90's anymore.

I’ve been complaining for way too many years about the ridiculous amount of moneys being paid. I hate that the towns that raise the most amount win. Where is the pride in that. Impossible to put the genie back in the bottle, I know but I enjoyed the hockey in the 80’s and 90’s more. Sure the overall skill level was down, but the rinks were full, the hockey was competitive the locals got to play, the businesses and local farmers weren’t fleeced, the bars were full after every home game. Now the imports take there money and head back to the city. Sadly there’s no going back. I think in 5 to 7 years there will half the teams there is today. Hope I’m wrong.
