They’ve had incredible success bringing in CIS players. Wouldn’t shock me if this pushes the SV to bring in a cap on the number of ‘elite’ players though, like you see in some other leagues.

All the top guys are coming out of the Saskatoon area currently. Every team Kenaston beat was paying more $ per game than them too. The beach boys are still trying to clean out their sandbox after the Blizz took a big shit in it during the 3rd period of game 2.

The south has some unreal talent

Wouldn’t an “elite” cap of like 6 make sense?
“Elite” being, has played greater than Jr A. Kenaston’s roster last year had 9 guys who played higher than Jr A, and only 2 were from Kenaston (McVeigh, and I’ll give them Bembridge).
They have a clear geographical advantage over every other team in the league (except Delisle who doesn’t GAF), which gets them CIS & pro players at big discounts. Is there any reason why a team in a Senior B league should be grabbing more than 6 CIS/pro players? And is it good for the league? Serious questions.

Maybe Fiala (Clavet) moves “home” and plays. Make it 10.
Proximity to Saskatoon & it’s suburbs is a pretty clear edge.

No team has taken better advantage of having an elite player come home to play than Kenaston. The year before McVeigh finished with the Huskies they add twoHuskies. Yakabowski being from Dalmeny is just icing on the cake. Then the next year they add Tkatch and Gay. Tkatch is from Prudhomme which is within the 120Km limit. They had two naturalized imports in place when they stated their run. One being Bembridge who lived there until he was like 12 and is related to half the team. They clearly had a plan and worked it to perfection. Tkatch and Yakubowski could had gone to a bunch of teams but must have prioritized playing with their buddies and be close to the city. Kenaston has almost no minor hockey left and has 7 other senior teams within an 80km radius battling for bodies. What was their alternative? Their window is closing because they don’t have a feeder system. Their executive clearly raises more money than most and they get a deal on players. Look at their program and their sponsorship.
No one seems to care that much of Davidson’s team is from Clavet/Allan area. What’s the difference other than the quality of the players?
