Carnduff Vs Kyle

Thought Kyle was suppose to steam roll em.

Yea, is he usually a decent goalie? Couple soft ones, couple bad bounces as well.

Went to Carnduff last nite and saw the Red Devils pull a major league upset over the heavily favoured Elks. Kyle skates better, shoots better, and looks more "professional hockey like" than the home team, but that is why you play the game. Game was tied at 2 after one with Ben Hiltz scoring twice. Because of that effort, he was heavily checked by Dustin Stevenson and played only two more shifts in the second and one in the third. Injury status unknown.
Carnduff got their first power play late in the second and connected on a goal from Ty Stovin, 3-3 after two.
The game got interesting in the third and with 12 to go defenseman Tanner Reynolds wristed a shot from the corner of the rink and deflected off many and past a startled Palmer and it was 4-3. On a late power play, Reynolds again scored, this time shorthanded, on a floater from the point which found the back of the net making it 5-3 with four to go. Empty netter 6-3 final. Reynolds had a career night after scoring only once in the regular season.
Carnduff's D played great and I was impressed with both Kody Martin and Kelby Minschull. While the Elks had some good scoring chances, for the most part Red Devil D played them tough. Carnduff forechecked well and actually the Elks D looked average at best, even with Stevenson. The two Scheinders and Dakota Boutin were their best players. The Oxbow Huskies pickup line of Rutten, Cooney and Schell played well in this game.
While Kyle is still favoured to sweep in their home barn next weekend, Carnduff is at least giving them a scare and are one win closer to the final than they are. Crowd estimated at 400 with a $1500 pot of gold.
On a side note, I chatted with Travis Longman, the owner-operator of TL Media. He lives in Boissevain, Manitoba but has done countless games this year in both MB and SK. He was especially proud to point out that the recent Kenaston-Kindersley series drew over 10,000 views, mainly on his Twitter feed and not Facebook. A good guy and a good promoter for senior hockey.

Hearing all this hype about Kyle having Stevenson this year and they are gonna walk all over Carnduff. First of all, Stevenson crapped the bed in League losing to Maple Creek. Second…he is only playing for Kyle because his brother in law is on the team not for his skill level or he would’ve played pro longer. Third…he is a marked man now after the hit he delivered to Hiltz on Saturday, so he will be spending most of Game 2 watching over his shoulder. I got Carnduff in 2 games. Palmer looked like Swiss cheese in Carnduff and is he’s not on his game, the entire team will sink.
