Onus of suspensions is on the team, not HockeySask. It’s a crystal clear rule and a clear violation of that rule, can’t see how the league hasn’t corrected this. This doesn't make sense. The team doesn't decide how long a player is suspended for the league/SHA does. To say the team is responsible seems wrong. The site said he was suspended two games, which I am sure the league put up. He sat his two games. If there was a mistake it seems to be at the league end.

The reality is that if he was supposed to be suspended three games the issue is probably with the website/software. I am guessing that you enter a game sheet on those sites and the website automatically updates the PIMS, Points, GP, Suspensions on there. I am guessing they are not manually entering all of that. To me this is a league issue.

Someone should own up and take blame for the issues. Mistakes happen yes. But the amount of fines, import issues and now suspension issue. Qvhhl sorta looks like a joke now.

The way I see it it is on the team to know what is happening with their own players. Balcarres should have known that 2 instigators is an automatic 3 game suspension. And if they didn’t know they should have asked. Guy who runs Balcarres is also guy who runs league website, so to say it’s his fault is one and the same.
If I’m a coach and one of my players is suspended it’s on me to know for how many games. To say Balcarres trusted what’s on the website is laughable, because same guy.
Should be auto forfeits for the wins last weekend vs Bethune and Grenfell. Even though if you ask those 2 teams they prob say we don’t want it that way. Still a rule though. Black and white.

It’s 100% on the team to know and follow the rules. Within that, knowing what suspensions their players incur given the penalties they are assessed. You think HockeySask scours and reviews every game sheet in the province for all levels of hockey and then emails the suspensions out to the teams? Teams are responsible. End of story.

Hockey Sask has hired somehow to operate a suspension portal. All leagues are required to put all suspension and penalties like fighting on it. In all honesty the instigator in question got the fighting penalty in last ten so the game misconduct is 1 game. The instigator accumulations comes with 3 games. The player in Question should have a 4 game holiday Coaches and Managers do not read the handbook or keep track of the accumulation penalties. With everything online it’s easy to do for opposition to do some homework for indelible players

Sask Hockey uses the portal for provincials so they can kee track of accumulation penalties. League presidents can use as well for penalties received in provincials as well Sask Hockey uses it for exhibition provincials and tourneys in minor as well

If I am reading this correctly

Isn’t the bigger issue that this guy continually instigates fights in senior hockey? I get that stuff happens and fights will happen but continually being the aggressor/instigator is something else. What a moron.

Did a little chatting and digging last night with a fan who was on the ground at the game where he got the 2 games on Dec 3, 2023. (Quote this is from a of seinor hockey fan and didnt want to pick sides). From what he seen was it looked like this palyer was sent out to jump the opposing player he got into an altercation with, and by sent out i mean he came from off the bench either after he was told to or by himself willingly. By hockey standards you are not to leave the bench if there is a scrum happening. Im not sure the exact ruling of the call or play but seems to me he's a problematic player.

lol there is a video floating around, that clearly shows Bern on top holding a Rockets player's head down and the other player was trying to split them up. Play was clearly blowen dead as the ref and linsman already in the middle trying to help split them up and then the big tough guy comes in swinging like he jsut dont care. Im also not picking sides here. I like to see the Raymore guy stick up for himslef after been jumped and do see a place for fighint in hockey, but hearing from muliple people this guy is a goon i wouldnt put it past him coming off the bench.
