You must not of played senior hockey, it’s province wide to give beer to visiting teams. True Canadian thing to do. Typical davidson

I could be wrong, but i believe this was the first year they made it a league "rule" to give beer to the visiting teams. Has been done lots in other leagues.

Recently teams that didn’t (or forgot) have been called out on social media for it.

Typical davidson having played senior in the LLHL i've never seen beer given out during league, just provs. it was brought up earlier this year amongst the teams and was said it wasnt expected.

since when do you give a league team beer?? F that noise.....it used to be in provincials that the home team gave the visitors beer after game Most teams in this league exchange beer every home game. Intact every team except watrous and apparently Davidson? Watrous burnt out the bank account on the run a few years ago I guess can’t afford a 24 sack anymore

Budgets are what? $30,000 average? That extra $1,500 in beer, that you receive back from other teams, would be a gesture easy to complete.

I heard it was brought up in the league meeting but nothing came out of it. If you want beer, everyone is fully capable of bringing their own. Just my opinion.

Add up player costs, fuel for both city & town guys, vehicle maintenance, ice time, Refs, food, beer, sticks, tape, gear etc... It can all add up really quick. If a team plays 30 games ( that’s if they go on a run) and that budget sits at 3k per game, that’s 90k. Not saying all teams are doing this but some definitely are. My guess is budgets are anywhere from 60k to 90k in this league. Maybe it’s the cancelled year that got teams spending this amount, but I don’t see this being sustainable.

Still a greasy move when everyone in the league does it. I bet when teams brought beer to their room they didn’t say “No sorry we don’t do that” . But all in all whatever, guess teams will know better now

If teams can throw that kind of money around for players surely they can add a token refreshment to that.

I would guess that teams spending that amount got stung hard with covid! those teams need big playoff and provincial gates to help fund those rosters... you aren't bringing in 3K in revenue on a tuesday in december.... any regular season games i've been at 50/50 is between $300-$500 and maybe 100-150 people in the rink. doesn't take an accountant to know that doesn't add up. you need the major 50/50's and full rinks to be making money. and covid shutting things down just as provs were getting going and same with playoffs would have hurt lots of teams, same with the following year, play 3-4 games where the rink capacity was at 100 people with that type of payroll then get shut down again not good.
