The SVHL is a forgone conclusion for this year. It’s not even close - Kenaston has it wrapped up. Only excitement is to look forward to provincials for the other SVHL teams.

They should cut some hometown guys and pick up imports so they can go A. What’s the fascination with A? I realize many teams need a bunch of imports to survive, but that shouldn’t be your goal. Biggest crowds in the province for provincials are usually in B/C/D. Fans want to see their guys win. Kenaston will almost certainly be in C this year. What’s wrong with being like Wilkie and Davidson and work your way up through the categories?

All I’m saying is if they go D it won’t be a challenge, will be a cake walk. But I can see them going D to avoid the long lake. The blizz are really good. Can you imagine them vs a top team in the long lake. That would Be some excellent hockey.

For sure. D was a tougher draw than C and Kenaston had no easy rounds.

For sure. D was a tougher draw than C and Kenaston had no easy rounds. Can Kenaston request ‘C’? They won’t be C unless they can request it. Due to their small population when the C/D divisions are split by SHA based on size they will be put into ‘D’

Some would say Kenaston fielded a better team than Dinsmore and Outlook, who won B and C. Having watched games in all 3 categories last year, I would say they pretty much equal. It's not tiered based on talent, just differentiated based on population.

D provincials was murderers row last year, don't know if we'll ever see it that tough again. Kenaston, Craik, Macklin, Foam Lake, Edam and Kyle would have all been good enough to win C in my honest opinion. Wasn't far behind A in terms of level of competition either.

I wonder if we would be better off moving towards a provincial format like Manitoba, a tournament style. First round matchups you're against a similar population base then after that it depends on win or loss if you go to A or B, another loss put you to C and so on.

I may have put my foot in my mouth in saying following Manitoba's format. I decided to do some light reading this morning and scanned through their constitution and bylaws. What I found was for Provincial A, the leagues champions along with one wildcard team get entered into A provincials where the teams are allowed to add one goalie from their respective leagues...I had to stop reading there as I was starting to go cross-eyed and wishing I had a sister...damn Manitoba

The toothbrush was invented in Manitoba. If it was invented anywhere else it would have been called the teethbrush.
