So 9 imports, a handful in the grey. Yet a local team in a seperate league. That sure makes alot of sense. Next year it will be open import rule like AAA, but only a 8 game schedule. Wilkie and Kindersley can play each other 4 times at home and 4 times on the road, and the other 5 teams can find different leagues to play in. Make the playoffs a best of 21 and then call it a league championship.

Sask West seems to be in a tail spin, not sure who would only want to play 12 regular season games. prairie league next door is gaining traction. Maybe a few teams will make the move next season. If Edam lost the Dryz who filled those import spots?

If you think Wilkie has never bent the rules a little throughout the years you are cooked. The fact some teams needed an extra import here and there is one thing, but 9 is flat out outrageous. Then on top to say, it’s hard to get a full bench on the road, means you don’t have enough committed players, just fold the league and be done with it. Wilkie came in, followed the rules, and dominated for better part of a decade. Everyone else stretched the rules, albeit by vote and was allowed, for years. Finally someone knocks them off, and now let’s reduce the games to 12. I for one am glad someone was able to give Wilkie a run. It’s just crazy that it took so many favours and exceptions to finally do it. Now the entire league must cater to these teams that have no local commitment. Embarrassing. Less hockey, means less revenue, which means less money to spend next year. The league is on its way to folding. 18 skaters on hafford, 9 of them are imports. Another couple in the grey area.

Cody Danberg and Logan Nachtegaele. Would be new imports for Edam.

Will this be the new snap face trend for senior hockey? If so, say good bye to Sr Hockey. What the hell was the reasoning behind that? And 9 imports, but have a team in the SP? Who was supplying the drinks and homemade snacks during the meeting? The fact some teams needed an extra import here and there is one thing, but 9 is flat out outrageous. Only 12 games is crazy. If you can’t commit to at least 20 regular season games, then just don’t play senior. How far we have fallen in senior hockey. Used to be 24-28 games a season in most leagues. You boys must have really not liked the wives back in the day for a 30 game sched. I find 18 to be the perfect amount for most leagues. You add in a round of provs and playoffs your gonna be close to 25 there alone. I don't personally know a single person who would be in favour of a 22+ regular season.

Guess we just enjoyed the road trips and the games and the locker room with our teammates and were not scared of our wives. Again if you don’t want to play senior, plenty of rec leagues around and you can be home at 9 pm to watch the Bachelor with your wife.

I think the biggest issue with a 20+ game schedule is weekday availability. There are a high percentage of players that are traveling 2 or more hours for a home game. I don’t know many guys who want to make that trip for a Wednesday night game at 8:00. It’s not like 40 years ago where most guys lived at home and could regularly play a game during the week.

Not to mention that in a lot of cases, the leagues had significantly less travel. The league my uncle played in down in SE Sask only had a handful of teams and they were within less than an hour of eachother. Now, only 2 of those towns even have a team, and the other two are in the SEHL, which stretches from Swan River to Wapella. It's just not the same senior hockey. In Manitoba it's even worse. They're down to 2 leagues. It's hard to make the time for hockey, especially when so many guys work on the road or travel for work, and then have to travel for "home" hockey games in many cases.

Back in the early 80's & late 70's the wild goose league, the regular season, they played 36 games! Now there playing 12 game seasons, this is pathetic.
